Minutes ago, Uncle Steve just announced a $100 rebate to early adopters like yourselves. Not the full $200, but $100, one day after announcing the price drop. Which is brilliant business sense, if you think about it.

By waiting a day and letting early adopters like yourself rationalize the price drop (like you just did), then announcing the $100 early-adopter-rebate in a friendly letter, Jobs seems benevolent, rather than like a prick. Now people like yourselves are saying, "I guess I got screwed, but Apple still likes me, they're giving me $100! That's Leopard for only $30!"

Now imagine if he had announced the $100 early-adopter-rebate at the exact same time he announced the $200 price cut. You'd be pissed, saying "I want the whole $200 back, dangit!"
